I was asked "what can I do for my 7-year-old son who keeps having fevers 100-102 and always has a runny nose?" Naturally, I asked what is being done currently and what he eats on a typical day . . .
Panadol (paracetamol) and some nasal spray.
Morning: glass of milk
Snack: apples, grapes, cookies
Lunch: veggie burger
Snack: milk and cookies
Dinner: vegetarian diet
My response . . .
Panadol and nasal spray mask the symptoms, but they do not work on the cause of the fever. The fever and runny nose are signals that the body is having a challenge.
It is good that he is not drinking a lot of milk as milk creates mucous throughout the body. Green leafy vegetables actually contain more calcium than milk, and he may do better with less milk. Protein can come from other sources, but he does need protein in the mornings.
SUGAR is probably the single thing that is weakening him the most. Perhaps you could try substituting Young Living’s WOLFBERRY CRISP BARS. They are vegan and contain a lot of protein. They are balanced and actually can be used as a meal replacement or a snack. Most children (and adults) like them because they are sweetened with Blue Agave and taste good.
For fever, 1-2 drops PEPPERMINT can be applied to the bottoms of his feet as often as needed. You never have to worry about using the oils too often because the body eliminates any portion of oils that are not needed in about 20 minutes as long as we drink enough water.
Have you tried giving him NINGXIA RED? He could drink 30ml (1 ounce) mixed with equal parts of water two times daily. This will boost his immune function. Most children do very well drinking NingXia Red in the morning and after school with their snack. (It goes really well with Wolfberry Crisp bars.) NingXia Red also contains protein that is quite easily digested.
THIEVES, PURIFICATION, and RC can all be used every single day. I like to diffuse one blend and apply the other two.
NOTE: THIEVES should be applied ONLY on the bottoms of the feet.
An example would be . . .
Monday: Apply Thieves on feet and RC on chest and throat. Cup hands over nose, inhaling deeply several times after each oil. Diffuse Purification.
Tuesday: Apply Purification on feet and RC on chest and throat. Cup hands over nose, inhaling deeply several times. Diffuse Thieves.
Wednesday: Apply Thieves on feet and Purification on chest and throat. Cup hands over nose, inhaling deeply several times. Diffuse RC.
Continue on and on until he is completely healthy for at least 1-2 weeks. In fact, many parents like to apply one of the oils on the feet daily every single day and diffuse an oil in the bedroom at night every night. These children usually are quite healthy even if they formerly were “sick” quite a bit. One mom recently said that her children have not been to A&E or the pediatrician for the past 2 years – the length of time she has been using the oils for them!
Another thing that you can do is add LEMON essential oil to his water bottle. 3 drops is usually a good amount. (You did not mention whether or not he drinks water, but water is VERY important as the body cannot function properly when it is dehydrated. Since we live in the tropics, it is extremely difficult to remain hydrated.)
